Kyle’s European Adventure

Mishaps and sordid tales.

Decadent

Well, one of my goals on this trip was to let my mind and body unwind a little bit, and I’m definitely achieving that.

IMG_2233 I’ve really enjoyed being at my parents house so far. My mom, as usual, took up the role of Major General, and kept me moving and doing things for the first few days. We saw a glass art exhibit downtown that was exceptional, bummed around the gallery district for a bit, hung out with some new family friends, and tooled around town.

Mom and Dad both had travel plans this weekend, so today I had my first full day, alone, with absolutely nothing to do. And so that’s what I did – nothing. I followed whatever impulses came my way, without laying down a structure to my day. I made myself breakfast, and then went back to sleep – because I couldn’t think of a good reason not to. When I woke up, our dog was feeling extra playful, and so I took him to the dog park where he enjoyed himself, but made a marked effort to NOT play fetch with me.

I went to my parents gym for a leisurely workout, and then came home for a long soak in the tub with a cheesebag fantasy novel. After turning into a prune, I made myself a healthy dinner (who DOESN’T love raiding mom’s fully stocked pantry?). And now, I think I’ll go meet my boys downtown for a drink.

None of this reporting is an effort to gloat (well, OK, maybe a little!), but instead to fully embrace the fact that I’m doing what I set out to do. My day, today, was filled with no obligations, no schedules, no ToDo lists – just whatever I wanted to do. I kept catching myself grinning because I could feel it – I was doing exactly what I set out to do, and it feels really wonderful.

No, you’re gloating bitch, and for that we hate you. :)
