Well, the first leg of my journey is already over. Tonight is the last night I sleep at my parents house, eating all their food, in the giant guest bedroom, with my own bathroom. I’ve spent the entire week doing a whole lot of nothing, and it’s been fantastic. I’m actually feeling more separation anxiety now than I did in my last night in San Francisco. I think I’ve just completely unwound, and I know that New York is going to be a whirlwind. My best friend from San Francisco, Alapaki, is meeting me in NYC tomorrow to spend the weekend with me there. It’s his birthday on Saturday, and we’re going to celebrate together all weekend.
My flight leaves tomorrow morning at 6:20 am, I land at 2pm. I’ll find my way to Josh’s house in Billyburg and drop my backpack. Alapaki should be getting in in the late afternoon, and from there starts his birthday weekend. I’m really looking forward to spending time in the city again, and to show Alapaki a little bit of my life back east.
I’m thinking we’ll try and see a show one night, definitely hit all the bars, and Saturday night will be our big blowout. Beyond that, we’re going to enjoy the sun, see some sights, and probably walk from one end of the island to the other. Jeff will be there to hang, as well, and help me figure out all the fun stuff to get up to this weekend.
I’ll post pictures when I can, and just hope that I survive until monday.
