New York City Day

June 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, day one back in the city is over, and it was wonderful. Somehow, Josh, Alapaki and I managed to sleep (well!) in a queen sized bed together. We got up around 10, and Josh made us a super healthy breakfast. Josh, apparently, is a healthy nut. Who knew? He gave us a detailed explanation of whats what, and who’s who in the eating world. Good stuff.

From there, we hit the gym, and it was total deja vu. We went to my old gym on Lafayette St, where they remembered me (!!). I managed to get a two week pass out of that remembering, so that counts for something. We worked out, and then hit my favorite vegan samosa cart on Washington Square Park. Josh was totally in love with the cart guy, and by the end of our ordering had obtained his card and was well on his way to convincing him to switch to biodigradable packaging.

After that, we made a stop at Peanut Butter & Co., and as anyone who knows me will understand, I was in HEAVEN. I sucked down a peanut butter milkshake and had a moment of bliss. Josh was excited that such a place even existed (an entire restaurant dedicated to peanut butter. Who knew?!)

Sunny gasian! The rest of the afternoon was spent out on the Christopher St Pier. THey’ve all been redone since I lived here, and they’re really spectacular. We laid out on the grass, ran through the spritzers (spritzers!), and enjoyed the sun.

Apparently, I’m feeling very parenthetical in this post.

As the day drew to a close, we went into Chelsea and met my good friend Mike for dinner. We had Thai food, with terrible service, and Josh had flashbacks to a negative “finding gum in his thai food” incident. Mike was tickled by the fact that he didn’t have to be polite or filter himself around my friends. Everyone settled into a comfortable rhythm, and enjoyed our food.

The end of the night found us back in Brooklyn, at the Lucky Cat Bar, where we saw Kevin’s band, Bambï play. They ROCKED. I was beside myself with excitement, FINALLY getting to see the band of my bestest friend jam the hell out. We watched the show, and then came home.

That was our day – a totally fun, but not too crazy New York Summer Day.
